ChatGPT Fixes Its Amnesia with 'Dreaming V3'

OpenAI has launched its most significant memory upgrade since the original ChatGPT rollout. The new Dreaming V3 architecture is currently deploying to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users, completely changing how the model retains context.

Previously, ChatGPT required you to explicitly ask it to remember a fact. Now, Dreaming V3 runs a highly efficient background process after your conversations end, automatically synthesizing what matters—your preferences, ongoing projects, and constraints.

Because the system infers behavioral profiles unilaterally without user prompting, privacy researchers are already raising flags ahead of the EU AI Act's strict transparency rules taking effect this August.
