Monday, June 29, 2026, brings a wave of massive announcements and box office milestones for the Indian entertainment industry. From the highly anticipated return of a beloved streaming franchise to the verdict on the first half of the theatrical year, here is your daily dose of entertainment news.

Srikant Tiwari is Coming Back: The Family Man Season 4 Confirmed

For fans who have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the life of India’s favorite undercover operative, the wait for an update is over. Creator duo Raj & DK officially confirmed today that The Family Man Season 4 is in active development.

Speaking to the media, the acclaimed directors revealed that they are currently "writing furiously" to finalize the script for the next installment. While plot details remain heavily guarded, the confirmation that Manoj Bajpayee will return to navigate the chaotic balance between his high-stakes espionage missions and his tumultuous family life has sent social media into a frenzy. Fans can expect the new season to pick up the lingering threads from Season 3, likely expanding the geopolitical stakes even further.

The Mid-Year Box Office Report: 2026's Biggest Winners

As June comes to a close, trade analysts are looking back at the first half of the 2026 Bollywood box office. Despite an incredibly crowded release calendar and several highly anticipated films underperforming, the industry still managed to deliver massive numbers driven by a few distinct blockbusters.

According to PVR INOX and trade analysts, the first six months belonged to high-octane spectacle and franchise loyalty:

1.Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge:Rs 1,800 Crore Worldwide.

Aditya Dhar’s massive espionage sequel shattered expectations. Riding on unprecedented hype, the film became the undisputed king of 2026 so far, proving that audiences will show up in record numbers for well-executed action franchises.

2.Border 2:Rs 450 Crore Worldwide.

Nostalgia and nationalism proved to be a lethal combination. The long-awaited sequel to the 1997 classic capitalized on a solo Republic Day release window, resulting in a massive, sustained theatrical run.

3.Bhooth Bangla:Rs 270 Crore Worldwide.

Serving as the surprise package of the year, this horror-comedy delivered exceptional returns, proving that the genre continues to be one of the safest bets in the Indian theatrical market when the writing connects.

Cocktail 2 Defies the Clash

While the June box office was notoriously overcrowded, one film is steadily fighting its way to the finish line. Homi Adajania’s Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, has successfully weathered its second weekend.

Despite losing a significant number of screens to Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer comedy Welcome to the Jungle, the modern romantic drama has shown incredible resilience. The film registered a 3.5% growth on its second Sunday (Day 10), bringing its domestic total within striking distance of the Rs 100 crore milestone. If Cocktail 2 can maintain a steady weekday hold of Rs 1.5–2.5 crore over the next few days, it will cement its status as a clean hit, proving that mid-budget urban dramas still have a fighting chance if the music and chemistry resonate with the youth.
